(THIS
MAY LOOK HARD BUT JUST TAKE IT ONE LETTER AT A TIME AND YOU WILL SEE IT
IS NOT. GIVE IT A TRY. NOW LOOK AT THE BOOK I PUT DOWN BY THE OLD
ORANGE CHAIR. I THINK I SHOULD HAVE PLACED IT ON THE TABLE NEXT TO THAT
RING WHERE I FOUND IT.)
Remember: One letter at a time. Say words slowly and write the sounds.
Summary: Long vowels- Uppercase, short vowels- lower (ask ellen if oliver's ugly). "C" is ch and "c" is sh. "Q" is ow and "q" is oo (book). "X" is th (think) and "x" is th (this). "n" is ing. "j" (schwa) as in vision VijN. J as in jet, G as in get.
1. Set Cap Locks 'on' when composing text. Word Pad works best since it doesn't try to correct you. (No spell check - not needed)
2. Each letter has one sound but some sounds use several letters when the sound is the natural result of combining letters. ex., SK, TR, eKS, etc. Never use ph, ch, ough, th, pn, py, or other non phonetic or silent letters like e or b.
3. Use to show prounuciation of words, or, if you're not sure how to spell them. (fs) PRONuNSEAcN
4. This can help with learning some foreign languages as I found while spending some time in Kiribati, pronounced Kirabus or Kidabus. (The ti makes an S sound {as we use in 'tion'} and the local people roll their R's to sound like D). Christmas or Kiritimati Island was the location. Most speak Gilbertese. Pardon my French, or lack of it. My son gave us a Bichon Frise dog. After writing "BEcoN FREZA" I could say it! (of course you should use a little nasal sound on the N but then this alphabet is defined as American English)
5. PAAS, my original name for it,can also be called FoNiKSPeL which I came up with in trying to find a unique web site name, but it fits. PAAS (Phonetic American Alphabet Simplified)
6. "FoNiKSPeL wuRKS FoR ME!" There! I beat the NaySayers to it!
7. TuMATO or ToMoTO, Or just MATuR. You chose!
8. Use it for email and texting. ( YU = you)
9. Try it for shopping lists. (BReD, MiLK, SiREuL, BuTuR, CiKuN NUDuL SUP, cqGuR and IS KREM)
10. Most commonly used letter is "u".
11. Learn to say the alphabet by the sound of the letters. Ape, at, Bug, Chug, shoe(c), Dug, Eve, ed, etc.
(Software is coming that will sound the letters as you press the keys.)
12. Wallet or Card size:
