Just a person who likes simple things! And High tech things. And a lot of things in between.  By simple I mean logical for the most part which is why I have been interested in phonetic alphabets for a long time. ( The term phonetic alphabet seems to me to be an oxymoron, using "ph" for  F and "c" for K. ) I was aware of several, including Ben Franklin's but had never seen it, or really studied any of them.  After retiring in 2003, as my home page implies, I just started thinking about what could be done and came up with what I  call the Phonetic American Alphabet Simplified (PAAS).  About the only changes I have made since then, was adding the  "n" for "ing" and trying to decide what to call it.  I have spent quite a bit of time working on a computer program to say the sounds of the letters when the keys are pressed, and to say the words when PAAS text is entered. I plan to put it in a self extracting file for down-loading soon.  I have looked  up information on alphabets recently and have noticed a number of similarities, but also many differences.

I was raised on a dairy farm but my ocupation was an Electronic Technician and Associate Engineer.

(Not really a Mountain man although I have an interest in it.)
